Boone Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
Boone is a visual schedule app: picture cards for your day, one at a time. We built it so your day stays on your phone, not on our computers. This policy explains the small amount of information that does leave your phone, why, and what happens to it.
Boone is run by Colleen MacCallum ("we", "us"), in Naples, Florida, United States. Questions: support@getboone.app.
The short version
- Your cards, your schedule and everything you make in Boone stay on your phone. You don't make an account.
- The only thing that leaves your phone by your choice is the name of a card when you tap Break it down. It goes to our small server and to Anthropic's Claude to suggest steps. We ask you before the first time.
- If Boone crashes, a crash report goes to us with your card text removed.
- No ads. No selling or sharing your information. No tracking across other apps or websites.
1. What stays on your phone
Your cards, schedule, done counts, Binder, stickers, presents, Saved for later, settings and everything else you create are saved only on your phone. We can't see them.
Phone backups. Like most apps, Boone's data is included in your phone's own backup (iCloud on iPhone, Google backup on Android) if you have that turned on. Apple or Google handle that backup under their own privacy terms. We can't see it.
Backup files. In Settings you can Save a backup file and put it wherever you choose (for example Files, iCloud Drive or Google Drive). That file contains your cards and progress. It's yours: we never receive it. Anyone you give it to could read it.
2. What leaves your phone
Break it down (only when you tap it)
When you tap Break it down on a card that doesn't already have ready-made steps, Boone sends:
- the card's name, exactly as written (up to 200 characters),
- the level of detail you chose (fewer, normal or more steps),
- your phone's date (so your free uses reset on your day), and
- a random code Boone made the first time you opened it.
These go to our server, which asks Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, to suggest steps. The steps come back to your phone and are saved only there. Ready-made cards that already have steps send nothing.
We ask first. Before your first Break it down, Boone shows a note saying that the card's name goes to Claude, made by Anthropic. Nothing is sent until you tap Ask the helper. If you tap Not now, nothing is sent and the rest of Boone works the same.
The random code isn't linked to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID. We use it only to count your free breakdowns each day and to stop misuse of the service.
What our server keeps.
- We never save or log the card name you send.
- To enforce the daily limit and stop abuse, our server keeps a count of requests for each random code and each internet (IP) address for up to 2 days, then deletes it. These counts are stored with Upstash, our database provider. They hold only numbers, never your card text.
- Our server runs on Expo's EAS Hosting. Like any web host, it automatically keeps basic records of each request (such as the time, your internet address, the type of device and whether the request worked) for security and troubleshooting. These records don't include your card text.
What Anthropic does with it. Anthropic processes the card name only to write the suggested steps for us. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, Anthropic doesn't use this content to train its models. Anthropic deletes it within 30 days, though it may keep content longer if its safety systems flag it. See privacy.claude.com.
Please don't put private details in card names you break down, like full names, addresses, account numbers or medical details. "Call the pharmacy" works just as well as the pharmacy's name and your prescription.
If a card sounds like you're going through something really hard, Boone doesn't send steps. It shows a kind message with a crisis line (in the US, call or text 988). We don't save, flag or report this, and it doesn't count as one of your free breakdowns.
Report these steps. If suggested steps are wrong or upsetting, you can tap Report these steps. Your email app opens with a message to us holding the card's name and the suggested steps, with room for your reason. You see all of it, and nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself.
Crash reports
If Boone hits an error, it sends a crash report to Sentry, a service that helps us find and fix bugs. A report includes things like your phone model, system version, Boone's version, the screen you were on and the technical error. Boone removes the text of your cards, steps and notes before a report is sent. Crash reports aren't linked to your name or the random Break it down code, and they are deleted within 90 days.
Send feedback
If you tap Send feedback, your email app opens with a message to us. We receive whatever you choose to write and your email address, and use them only to reply and improve Boone. We keep feedback emails until the matter is resolved, and no longer than 2 years.
3. What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising IDs.
- We don't sell or "share" your personal information (as those words are used in California law), and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No access to your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. Boone uses your phone's motion sensor only to make shiny stickers shimmer when you tilt the phone, and that never leaves your phone.
- No accounts, so no passwords or profiles to leak.
4. Health information (Washington, Nevada and similar laws)
Some state laws, including Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data law, cover "consumer health data" very broadly. A card name like "Take medication" or "Therapy appointment" could count. This section is our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
- What we collect: only card names you choose to send with Break it down. Boone doesn't ask about diagnoses, conditions or medications. Using Boone doesn't tell us that you have any condition.
- Where it comes from: you, when you tap Break it down.
- Why: only to suggest steps for that card.
- Who receives it: Anthropic, as our service provider, only to write the steps. Our hosting and database providers handle the request but don't keep the card text. We don't sell it or share it for any other purpose.
- Your consent: we ask before the first Break it down, and you can say Not now.
- Your rights: you can ask what consumer health data we have about you, ask us to delete it, and withdraw consent by not using Break it down. Because we don't keep card text, there's normally nothing for us to hand over or delete, but write to support@getboone.app and we'll confirm within 45 days. If we turn down a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and if you're unhappy with the result you can contact your state Attorney General.
5. Your choices and deleting your data
- Delete everything Boone saved on your phone: delete the app. Copies inside your phone's backup are removed under Apple's or Google's backup rules. Backup files you saved yourself stay where you put them until you delete them.
- Clear today: "Start fresh" clears today's cards.
- Data on our side: we don't keep your cards, so there's nothing to delete for them. Daily-limit counts delete themselves within 2 days, and crash reports within 90 days. Email support@getboone.app for anything else and we'll answer within 45 days.
- Turn things off: tap Not now on the helper note, or simply don't use Break it down.
US state privacy rights. Depending on your state, you may have the right to know, access, correct or delete personal information, and to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. We don't do the last three. To use any right, email support@getboone.app. We won't treat you differently for asking. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof they act for you.
6. Age
Boone is for adults 18 and older (see our Terms of Use). It isn't designed for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
7. Security
Everything Boone sends travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Our AI key lives only on our server, never in the app. We keep as little as possible, because what we don't keep can't leak.
8. Where Boone is available
Boone is offered in the United States. Our server and service providers process information in the United States.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For bigger changes (for example, if something new starts leaving your phone) we'll tell you inside Boone before it happens.
